May 23rd marks our third of four team orientation meetings for our annual summer mission trip to Verbo Church in Santa Maria, Nicaragua. This will be St. John's 6th visit to our partner church in Nicaragua, and we will once again be leading a Vacation Bible school, Men's and Women's Bible studies, and project work. VBS will focus on the Miracles of Jesus, while the women will study Ruth and the men Timothy. Our project for the year will be replacing two structures. One covers the old tractor that has been converted into a water pump, and the other covers a kitchen area. With the use of the church increasing as they start a ministry of feeding school children, these are essential buildings for the church's ministry. We look forward to contributing to the continual building up of the church.
This year's team is 13 members strong, including Chris Freisheim and Sandy Buckley leading the way. Returning team members are Bruce Buckley, Mayo Dunn, Ellen and Butch Bodenheimer, Debbie Freisheim, Ron Fell, Jr. and Rev. Cliff Gobin. First time team members are Rev. Mark Rudolph, Ann Smullen and Lauren and Chad Whitman. We are all looking forward to what the Lord has in the works for us this June.
Please keep the team and the preparations in your prayers, and consider supporting us financially (call the church office at 215-396-1970 to find out how. We welcome you to join us on this adventure through our blog.
